Chicago, Illinois, USA, January 8, 2026- Following her first visit to UL Solutions' Chicago headquarters laboratory and technical exchange in June 2025, Ms. Zhao Li, General Manager of Shenzhen ProSense Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ProSense"), recently visited UL Solutions' Chicago Advanced Gas Detection Laboratory again. This follow-up visit focuses on the risk management mechanism of gas detection related to thermal runaway of lithium-ion batteries, testing methods for specific application scenarios, and standardization paths. In addition, in-depth technical discussions were conducted with UL Solutions American expert David Plummer and his engineering team, marking a further deepening of cooperation between the two parties in the field of new energy security towards engineering verification and forward-looking standard research.

Revisiting UL Headquarters: Focusing on lithium electric heating runaway and complex gas risk management
Accompanied by David Plummer, Senior Project Engineer at UL Solutions, Ms. Zhao Li and her team visited the system and gained a deep understanding of UL's latest experimental capabilities in combustible and toxic gas detection, reliability assessment, and other areas. Both parties have conducted multiple rounds of technical discussions on the reliability of detection under the conditions of multiple gas concurrency, rapid diffusion, and complex interference during the thermal runaway process of lithium batteries.
Combining high-risk application scenarios such as energy storage power stations, AI data centers (AIDC), and new energy infrastructure, the two parties had a closed door technical exchange on the extreme working conditions, long-term operation, and performance boundaries of gas sensors in the installation environment of energy storage systems, risk grading and control strategies, as well as the applicability and evolution direction of relevant international standards. Professional opinions were also exchanged on key technical difficulties in the implementation of standards.

Dialogue with international experts: Clarify the direction of technological breakthroughs from a standard perspective
Ms. Zhao Li, General Manager of ProSense, stated during the communication that:
UL is not only an important cornerstone of global product safety and compliance, but also continuously promotes the evolution of safety standards in new technologies and scenarios. ProSense always regards the international standard system as an important reference coordinate for technology research and development. Through this follow-up visit, we have gained a clearer technical consensus on the role of gas detection in system safety in highly complex risk scenarios such as lithium electric thermal runaway. This also provides a clear direction for the development and engineering verification of next-generation products. ”
From certification practice to standard co construction: using engineering data to support the evolution of standards
In the field of gas sensing, ProSense continues to promote technological breakthroughs and international compliance processes. The company's hydrogen and carbon monoxide sensor products have obtained UL 2075 certification in the United States and CAN/ULC 588 certification in Canada. The working temperature range of the products covers -40 ℃ to 105 ℃, and they have become industry benchmarks in terms of environmental adaptability, long-term stability, poisoning resistance, and reliability. They have been widely used in energy storage system safety monitoring, AIDC infrastructure, and new energy related scenarios.
During this visit, the technical teams of both parties conducted in-depth discussions on the technical framework, testing boundaries, and verification methods of future gas detection standards based on the long-term accumulation of data from ProSense in material systems, manufacturing processes, and large-scale engineering applications. ProSense, combined with its practical experience in global applications of hydrogen and carbon monoxide sensors, provides an engineering perspective reference for optimizing relevant standard drafts, and has reached a preliminary consensus with UL on the feasibility of jointly conducting forward-looking testing and verification projects.
Both parties agree that in the context of the rapid development of new energy and energy storage systems, it is urgent to provide the industry with more operational safety gas sensing solutions through testing methods and standard systems that are closer to real risk scenarios. At the same time, this will help energy storage system brands significantly reduce the extremely high after-sales and maintenance costs caused by silicon poisoning and false alarms in gas detectors. In the future, both sides will continue to deepen the technical cooperation mechanism and jointly promote the improvement and upgrading of relevant standards.
Integrating into the global security system, promoting high-quality and secure overseas expansion of China's energy storage industry
As an important participant in the field of advanced gas sensing technology, ProSense continues to deepen technical exchanges and cooperation with international authoritative institutions, and supports the improvement of global public safety levels through continuous technology research and engineering practice. Relying on long-term communication and collaboration with international standard organizations such as UL Solutions, ProSense is gradually moving from the application and implementation of international standards to constructive technical participation in the improvement of the standard system.
Looking ahead to the future, ProSense will continue to maintain close cooperation with UL Solutions and global partners, focusing on the application and standardization needs of gas sensing technology in key scenarios such as energy storage, new energy, and high reliability infrastructure. We will continue to promote technological innovation and standard building, provide safer, more reliable, and more compliant products and solutions for global customers, and help China's high-end manufacturing play a more important role in the global security industry chain.
